Wedding sewing officially finished and picked up. No more nightmares about spilled coffee or cherry fingerprints, no lingering spectres of impending failure. Practice blocks are kinda boring by comparison. And I can’t remember wtf I did with the rest of them.
Hopefully I didn’t toss them without realizing it. They’ll probably show up a year from now tucked into a pillowcase. Whatever. Perfect excuse to skip to the functional and see if I can’t push Hedge-Podge out of the nest. Lots of straight lines to stitch in the ditch, plus the invisible facing stitch.
First and foremost, it needed a back. Was thinking about buying something extra wide, but raided the stash instead. The more I use, the more I can replace and FYN has a lovely swirled green and a pixelated orange. Plus I’ve had those stripes for. ev. er. I consider it kismet the final remnant was exactly 22 inches wide. Buh bye now.
I’m reminded you have to love the process as I reposition the batting and smooth to infinity for the fourth time, and this is just the back. Prepping the sandwich is like sanding – its boring and it takes forever, but you neglect that shit at your own peril.
I haven’t bled on a project in while, but it’s pretty much inevitable with white fabric in the mix. Right under the nail too, so I didn’t notice until it welled up enough to spatter. Fortunately I caught it before it dried. And it wasn’t on R2’s wedding dress. Might be my miracle quota for the year.
The Ozzman goeth 🥺 RIP Mr Osbourne
