Normalcy returns. Best to clear something – anything – off the table before inertia’s sticky little fingers come calling. Contemplated machine quilting over the top, but the point of this exercise was to do it by hand, at least once. Cut masking tape squares for the center of each critter block as a final concession, but this thing needs to be finished soonish.
Pieced together facing strips from the last of the Basketcase jelly roll. Machine stitched to the quilt edge and stay-stitched to the seam allowance before it was pressed over. Corners are folded with remaining edges hand stitched and generally pulled too tight. and there was schmutz on the iron. I always forget to clean the corded one.
Got sloppy towards the end, but not that fussed. Final push. Stitch down the facing and anchor any place the hand quilting thread didn’t get secured by the facing attachment stitch. Four straight edges, no layers to hide or weird angles – with any luck momentum will foment. Or I could play more Steamworld. Whatever.
