Should probably add macro-size blindness to my temporal dyslexia. I can identify 1/16″ difference from across the room but remain shocked when 42×60″ is, in fact, 42×60″. Whatever.
Z loaned me his casserole carrier pattern. The order of operations is sensible, but it really does require a ridiculously large base piece to cut from. I ran a couple inches over on length and a couple short on width, and it’s just stupidly large. Some days trusting the process is easier than others. Either way it’s good practice.
Went with a simple Irish Chain. Not really crazy about the 9-patch, but seemed like a good intermediate step before attempting a full checker. And shocker, it’s blue and black; lotta leftover Basketcase jelly roll, some pre-school rockets. Should have gone lighter on the navy center blocks. 9-patch monochrome is leavings from Tentacular and the full squares are the yard of theater curtain hardware schematic I couldn’t resist.
Once I got them up I realized, love a nested seam as I do, didn’t care enough to play swap games over a casserole carrier. Random stacks yielded a few pain points that will never be noticed by anyone but me. It really is stupidly large.
